18:1-16:0(16-azido) PC is a synthetic phosphatidylcholine functionalized with a terminal azide group on the sn-2 acyl chain. This clickable lipid provides a versatile bioorthogonal handle for the post-insertion functionilization of liposomes and lipid membranes. The azide moiety readily undergoes highly specific CuAAC or SPAAC with alkyne-tagged molecules. This allows researchers to easily conjugate fluorescent dyes, targeting ligands (antibodies, peptides), or PEG polymers to the lipid surface under mild conditions, without disrupting the membrane integrity.
