18:1-16:0(16-azido) PC 880248 1-oleoyl-2-(16-azidohexadecanoyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine
18:1-16:0(16-azido) PC is a synthetic phosphatidylcholine functionalized with a terminal azide group on the sn-2 acyl chain. This clickable lipid provides a versatile bioorthogonal handle for the post-insertion functionilization of liposomes and lipid membranes. The azide moiety readily undergoes highly specific CuAAC or SPAAC with alkyne-tagged molecules. This allows researchers to easily conjugate fluorescent dyes, targeting ligands (antibodies, peptides), or PEG polymers to the lipid surface under mild conditions, without disrupting the membrane integrity. All making this a useful tool for building functionalized liposomes and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and creating custom lipid probes.
