DSPE-PEG2K-tri mannose from Avanti Research™ is a PEGylated phospholipid designed to introduce mannose receptor recognition and targeted delivery applications in advanced lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and liposome-based drug delivery systems.
Anchored by DSPE—a phospholipid with two long hydrophobic stearoyl chains—the DSPE-PEG2k-tri mannose conjugate embeds into liposomes, lipid nanoparticles, or similar bilayer structures, while the polyethylene glycol (PEG 2000) spacer provides sufficient steric extension to present the tri-mannose ligand cluster for receptor recognition at the cell surface.
This multivalent mannose design enhances cellular uptake through C-type lectin receptors such as mannose receptors (MR) on immune cells, including those expressed on dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages, and other antigen-presenting cells.
