DLPC-Cyanine 5 880206 1,2-dilinoleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine-N-(Cyanine 5)
DLPC-Cyanine 5 is a 12:0 PC joined with a fluorescent probe. DLPC is a phospholipid composed of two lauric acid chains esterified to a glycerol backbone, with a phosphocholine headgroup. DLPC is commonly used to study lipid bilayers and membrane proteins; it is also used in liposome formation. This lipid is conjugated to a cyanine 5 fluorescent probe to help researchers better understand this lipid’s role within the cell. Cyanine probes have a similar fluorescent profile to traditional dyes such as fluorescein but have increased photostability and water solubility. Cyanine probes can be detected using a variety of fluorescence detection techniques, such as microscopy and flow cytometry.
