18:0-red-azo-PC A89921 (R,E)-2-((4-(4-((4-butyl-2,6-dichlorophenyl)diazenyl)-3,5-dichlorophenyl)butanoyl)oxy)-3-(stearoyloxy)propyl (2-(trimethylammonio)ethyl) phosphate
18:0-red-azo-PC is a photoswitchable PC in which one acyl chain incorporates a red-shifted azobenzene group on an 18:0 backbone. This design enables reversible trans–cis isomerization with visible light, allowing optical control over membrane order, curvature, and lateral organization in model membranes and liposomal systems. It is ideal for constructing light-responsive bilayers and probing membrane mechanics in GUVs, LUVs, and other systems.
