22:6 BMP (R,R) 791224 sn-(1-didocosahexaenoyl-2-hydroxy)-glycerol-3-phospho-sn-3'-(1'-didocosahexaenoyl-2'-hydroxy)-glycerol (ammonium salt)
22:6 BMP (R,R) is a stereochemically defined BMP containing two 22:6 DHA chains. BMP is a low-abundance but important phospholipid enriched in late endosomal membranes, mostly associated with membrane remodeling and lipid trafficking. BMP levels and/or species profiles are often altered in lysosomal storage disorders and are commonly monitored as biomarkers of drug-induced phospholipidosis1; emerging studies also support BMP’s utility in translational biomarker panels2. With the polyunsaturated 22:6 acyl chains and defined (R,R) stereochemistry, this lipid is a valuable reference standard for lipidomics method development and LC-MS/MS quantitation, as well as for probing acyl-chain and stereochemistry-dependent BMP biology.
