Soy PC (40%) 341602 L-α-Phosphatidylcholine (Soy-40%)
Soy PC is a naturally derived phospholipid extract containing a mixture of phosphatidylcholine species with varying acyl chain lengths and degrees of unsaturation. This material is the structural building block of most mammalian cell membranes; Soy PC is an exceptionally versatile and cost-effective workhorse lipid for a wide range of applications.
Common applications include being used as the primary structural matrix for generating liposomes, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), and micelles in the development of drug delivery systems, including those encapsulating APIs or nucleic acid vectors. In biophysical research, it is heavily utilized to create model membrane systems like GUVs, LUVs, and supported lipid bilayers. Additionally, the amphiphilic nature makes it an excellent biocompatible emulsifier for dissolving highly hydrophobic compounds in in vitro assays, while also serving as a key ingredient in dermatological research for developing delivery vehicles and studying skin barrier penetration.
This grade of Soy PC contains approximately 40% phosphatidylcholine, with the remaining composed of a natural blend of other soybean phospholipids. This cost-effective, mixed-lipid profile makes it an excellent choice for bulk liposome formulation, cosmetic and topical vehicle development, and large-scale proof-of-concept studies where high-purity PC is not strictly required.
